Feb 1, 2022

50 learners from O’ Fiaich Institute of Further Education are destined for Málaga in Spain, where they will undertake an ERASMUS+ Work Placement Programme.

Ó Fiaich Institute has been awarded funding to participate in the Erasmus+ Programme this year. This programme is a European Union initiative which offers college students the chance to travel and work abroad in Europe. Hundreds of PLC students in the institute applied in the hope of being one of the fifty students successfully selected to take part in this opportunity of a lifetime. Students had to complete a personal statement, attend an interview and also produce the required travel and vaccination documents. A huge congratulations to all fifty students who were successful.

The students were selected from a wide range of courses which are on offer at Ó Fiaich Institute of Further Education. The courses on which the participants of this Erasmus+ Project are studying, include Graphic Design, Nursing Studies, Childcare, Sports Studies, Film and Media, Youthwork, Marketing, Animal Science and Make Up Artistry. On work placement, they will get the opportunity to work in their course areas while experiencing the Spanish weather, culture, language and food. In preparation for their upcoming trip, the students had begun to learn some basic Spanish.

To avail of this fully-funded opportunity is a huge benefit to the students and it will serve them well when they graduate from Ó Fiaich Institute, either taking up employment in their chosen career or progressing to the next level of their education.

Everyone at Ó Fiaich Institute will be following their progress on social media with great excitement and interest. Check out how they are getting on by following @OFIDundalk on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.
