Louth and Meath Education and Training Board officially launched its Youth Work Plan 2023-2025 at Boomerang Youth Café in Drogheda on March 13th last.

The Youth Work Plan was developed using extensive research, data analysis and consultation with Youth and Youth groups across the LMETB region.

Young people were well represented on the day with music and presentations, as were voluntary and professional youth work organisations, including Youth Work Ireland (both Louth and Meath branches), Dundalk Youth Centre, Boomerang Youth Café, Involve Meath, Comhairle na nÓg, Foróige and Mosney Community Room.

Special guests who spoke at the launch included Sadie Ward McDermott (Director of Further Education and Training, LMETB), Cllr Marianne Butler (Chairperson of LMETB’s Youth Committee) and Cllr Wayne Harding, Cathaoirleach of LMETB, who officially launched the plan.

As well as mapping out the current level of youth work services within Louth and Meath, the Plan includes legislative and policy context as well as the socioeconomic profile of the region, using the most up to date Pobal and CSO data.

The actions outlined in the plan will ensure that LMETB can continue to support and advocate on behalf of Youth in the region to work towards addressing the needs as identified of Young People in Louth and Meath.

Youth work activity in Louth and Meath is supported in part through the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
