Community Special School in Enfield

The Department of Education, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) and Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) are now commencing detailed engagement around the planning for the establishment of the new Community Special School in Enfield, Co. Meath. It is envisaged that the school will initially cater for at least 18 students for the 2023/2024 school year with a focus on supporting children without a special school placement. It is anticipated that enrolments will increase over time. It is envisaged that details on the admission process for the new school will be published in January 2024.The special school will be initially located in accommodation recently vacated by Enfield Community College which will be reconfigured to meet the needs of the new school. The current focus is on the establishment of the school and a decision on the longer term location will be taken in due course.
